Worship

Worship is at the heart of our church’s life.

Our worship ranges from Morning Prayer said early each day, through simple and traditional services using the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), larger gatherings for Parish Communion, and also the informal ‘Messy Church’ held in St James’ School once a month.

What all our services have in common are a welcome to all, original and thoughtful preaching, and a focus on God as the source and guide for all that we do.

Here is a short guide to our regular worship. Please click on individual services to learn more, and of course go to the Diary.

On most Sundays:
Holy Communion (using the Book of Common Prayer) at 8.00 am.
Parish Communion at 10.30 am (but on the 3rd Sunday of each month All Age Worship at 10.30 am)
Evensong at 6.00 pm is usually celebrated only on the first Sunday of each month.

Messy Church is a very inclusive, family-friendly event that takes place at St James’ School, usually on the 3rd Sunday of each month, 10 – 11.30 am.

During the week, Morning Prayer is usually said in Church at 8.30 am, but at 7.15 am (with Holy Communion) on Fridays. Holy Communion is also celebrated on most Tuesdays at 9.15 am in the Forest Edge Coffee Shop – but check on the diary!

St James’ Church is open throughout each day and there is a book for you to enter any requests for prayer and you can also light a candle as a symbol of your prayers.
